Japanese 3DS Launch Lineup

January 8, 2011

Whilst America and Europe still long for an actual release date for the console, Japanese gamers have been told what to expect when the 3DS launches next month in terms of retail software. It’s probably a little disappointing to those of us expecting the Ocarina of Time remake on launch, but then again, having that as a launch title may have given third-party releases a slightly harder time. The list is as follows:

  • Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
  • Nintendogs + Cats – Following versions will be available:
    Toy Poodle & New Friends
    French Bull & New Friends
    Shiba & New Friends
  • Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
  • Ridge Racer 3D
  • Sengoku Musou Chronicle
  • Super Street Fighter IV
  • Tobidasu! Puzzle Bobble
  • Winning Eleven 3DSoccer
  • If you played Nintendogs on the original DS, chances are you’ve probably had enough of that game and the only people buying it will be those who either want to experience it with cats or those who missed out the first time. And of course those who want a first party title on launch to show off their new console at its best.

However, it could be worse, there are some strong titles like Super Street Fighter, Professor Layton and Puzzle Bobble. All of which are usually big hitters in Japan. Lets just hope strong third party development continues for a while to come.

Today was a day many avid handheld gamers have been waiting patiently for, a day where so much was revealed about the 3DS. Japanese gamers now know what to expect when buying their 3DS from Feb 26 for approximately 25000 yen, and we also found out how long the battery might last if we were going to use wireless and the brightest setting.

In the box, there will be the

  • Nintendo 3DS Console
  • Nintendo 3DS Charger Stand
  • AC Adapter
  • Nintendo 3DS Stylus
  • 2 GB SD Memory Card
  • 6 Augmented Reality Cards
  • Quick Start Guide
  • Instruction Booklet.
  • 3DS will have already have the following software installed:

  • Nintendo 3DS Sound

The 3DS will have 3-5 Hours of Battery Life

    January 8, 2011

All time low? I think so.

The 3DS, Nintendo’s latest handheld that will ship later this year, has been reported to have only a battery life of 3-5 hours (A battery life that is lower than most smart phones these days). While this probably due to the fact that the system needs to render in 3D, this is really, REALLY low. So if your gonna want to get your 3D on the go, best to bring a charger, everywhere.

On another note, the 3DS will be able to play normal DS games for about 5-8 hours, so thats always good, right?
